Shira was born in a small town near to the northern border of the Land of Win where his parents stayed while he moved to Sunagakure at a young age. Because of his lack of ability for genjutsu and ninjutsu, Shira was forbidden from entering the Academy due to a rule established by the Fourth Kazekage.
